The Schoolhouse and The China Charity Challenge are hosting their first charity bike ride, Bohai or Bust, in Huairou District on April 3. Participants can choose among 12 routes, ranging from a family-friend path to a 66-kilometer ride through Bohai Township.

Proceeds will go to the Mutianyu Village Charity Fund, which last year was used to sponsor a dinner and provide gift packages for elderly residents.

Morgan O’Hara, one of the event organizers, said that the elderly in rural communities need more attention and support. He said there are many fund-raising events for children and other causes, but there is less concern toward the elderly, thus their idea for a charity bike ride.

The registration fee is 100 yuan for adult riders and 50 yuan for children under age 13. Each participant will receive a Biking Bohai book and a free T-shirt. Note that this is a bring-your-own-bike event.
