Daegu Izmir Can’t Wait

The 21st Universiade has just started yesterday, the holders of 2003 and 2005 Summer Universiade can’t wait to tell people about their beautiful cities—Daegu in SoutKorea and Izmir in Turkey.

Yellow hair, shining eyes and red cheeks make 17-year-old Bas look like a big school- boy, although he became the 2000 junior world cup champion of epee fencing. Talking about the 12 Dutch championships he won, Bas was calm and confident.

Although born deaf, 25-year-old Cecilia Ferm is hard to distinguish from the other girls in the Sweden Women’s Basketball Team. Her teammates have a feeling of unity beause they learn sign language with her.
