Science park key to China’s IT growth

Zhongguancun is known as China’s silicon valley and has played a critical role in the country’s economic development over the past 20 years. Looking back at the history of technological development zone is interesting not only from a historical perspective, but also for the insights it offers into China’s future development.

Looking back on Zhongguancun

October 23, 1980, Chen Chunxian launched the “Institute of Plasma Advanced Technology Development,” which was the first civilian-run institution of science and technology in Zhongguancun. It was the first quasi-business approach to scientific and technological development in post-revolution China.
