Novy Arbat Street dates back to tsarist times. The street possesses a special artistic and cultural atmosphere. Today the Arbat region is formed by two main streets – Arbat Street itself, and the New Arbat Street. Many large supermarkets, entertainment centers and casinos line New Arbat, while book, antique and jewelry shops are concentrated in the old Arbat Street.
