Farmers Gathered for Their Summit

Hundreds of Chinese farmers crowd the lobby of the 21st Century Hotel in the northeastern part of Beijing, looking quite lost. Meanwhile, government officials, experts and scholars, foreign investors and diplomats, escorted by young women in red qipao (Chinese traditional lady suits), enter the conference hall on the hotel’s third floor.
