Xicheng’s Guanyuan flower and pet market closing this month
On December 21, the Guangyuan market in Fuchengmen Nei Avenue, one of the city’s best known flower and pet markets, will shut down for maintenance, it management announced. But market officials refused to say if it will reopen.

Beijing hosts film festival for outdoor sports
Who could have imagined that the outdoor sporting industry has its own film festival? The annual Banff Mountain Film Festival features the best short films on extreme outdoor sports and is held in a different country each year. The country’s musical tradition has been in place for thousands of years and has incorporated influences from foreign lands. Bu music was one of the many victims during the turbulent years of the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976): Western music and musicians were banished from the scene, and even chamber music performed by local musicians was restricted.

I was wondering where is a good place to start learning martial arts in town? Preferably in Chaoyang District. The language of instruction is not an issue, but the cheaper the tuition, the better. The class would have to begin at level zero.
